Obamacare to hit Middle Class Hard

The following part 1 installment on a series from Fox News targets healthcare legislation effects on the middle class. Key issues are;

A 5.4% surtax on wages over $500,000. While most of us don't consider this as middle-class, a two wage family in New Jersey might be in this regime and feel middle class as they currently see 65% of their income going to a spectrum of taxes at federal and state levels.

2. 40% tax on so-called Cadillac health plans. Sounds like a "soak the rich" scheme but in fact many union and state level workers have such plans, a leftover from the days when their direct wages were below the private sector so the difference was made up with plush benefit plans. Obviously unions are not happy with this.

3. As benefits in Cadillac plans get scaled back, workers will make up the difference using their wages--which they are already taxed on.

Overall for the middle class: a grim outcome from the Administration of "Hope and Change". More and more middle class folks might wonder if this was the "Hope and Change" they really voted for.
