Today is the 12th day after Christmas, the Epiphany, or Manifistation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the Gentiles. It is the day where they Three Wis Men, come to visit the baby Jesus and bring gifts.
The three wise men were Casper, Melchior, and Balthasar. By their visitation and homeage to the Savior, the word of the Messiah and His purpose on earth became a gift not only to the Hebrew nation but to the world.
From the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, Year C, we have these readings:
