Do we have to be stuck in Low Gear?

As typically happens this time of year, various economists have offered their opinions of where the economy is going this year and beyond. Of the many articles, I just picked this one as an example.

Pretty much they all tell us that 2010 is going to look a whole lot like 2009 but with a "slight" upturn. Much more worrisome should be the outlook that things may not get a whole lot better for another 3-5-10 years!

This analysis, which appears in many places, should beg at least three questions from Americans concerned about our economy:

1. Has the Obama Administration done the right things to improve the economy? Poll numbers indicate the majority of Americans say "NO"

2. Does the economy just have to stay like this? Is it just a matter of time until things correct, or, could the Government take more positive steps? Again, the majority of Americans want to see more positive action

3. Are new, massive Healthcare Reform taxes and new, massive Cap & Trade taxes likely to help the economy or hurt the economy? Again, the majority of Americans seem to understand these are dangerous policies to be inflicting on such a weak economic environment

So, is anybody in Washington listening to the People of America? Doesn't seem like it.
