The Scary Things that Polls Uncover......

The nation appears to be stuck at +10% unemployment. A key mortgage anti-foreclosure program seems to be worthless, deficit spending is out of control. Ordinary people speak of economic collapse and some of revolution. So what does a poll tell us about this President, his administration, and the Federal government in general? See it all here.

1. Sixty-two percent of adults in the survey feel the country is on the wrong track, the highest level since before the 2008 election.

2. Just one-third think the economy will get better over the next year, a 7-point drop from a month ago and the low point of Mr. Obama's tenure.

3. For the first time, more people disapprove of Mr. Obama's job performance than approve. And 57% of voters would prefer to elect a new person to Congress than re-elect their local representatives, the highest share in 18 years.

4. Support for Mr. Obama and his party is declining among centrist, independent voters. But, more ominous for the president, some in his base also are souring, with 17% of Democrats disapproving of Mr. Obama's job performance, the highest level of his presidency.

5. Approval for Mr. Obama has dropped among Hispanics, too, along with small-town residents, white women and seniors.

6. African-Americans remain the firmest part of Mr. Obama's base, with 91% approving of his job performance.

So what to make of these poll results? Essentially, all African-Americans are wildely supportive of this president. For the rest of the population less than half show approval?

What has Obama done that so appeals to African-Americans? The great supply of jobs? The plentiful wages they receive? The strengthening of America around the world? Obama's decisive leadership in the midst of chaos? The fact that his skin is black?

I don't know the answer, but the statistics of this one poll surely beg some interesting questions.
