The Episcopal Church: Cult of the "New Thang"

As reported in Episcopal Life, The Rev. Mary Glasspool, bishop-elect in the Diocese of Los Angeles has received the necessary number of consents from Bishops and Diocesan Standing Committees in order for the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church to declare that her ordination and consecretion as Bishop will proceed on May 15. Glasspool is the second openly gay partnered priest to be elected a bishop in the Episcopal Church.

The ordination of openly gay partnered persons to clerical orders overthrows two thousand years of tradition and plain biblical teaching in the Christian Church Universal. The move by The Episcopal Church to ordain only gay, partnered bishops has proceeded against the will of most of the Anglican Communion (global churches attached to the Church of England, The Anglican Church) and has caused a deep split among members within the United States of America.

Remember Kevin? The Safe School Czar? We haven't talked about Kevin much lately but he and his buddies have been busy. From here we find out that Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO)has introduced HR 4530, "The Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA).

What is this you ask? Well it seeks to put gay, lesbian, and transgenered students on the same level as heterosexual students. Still confused? Read this.....

Said Neal McCluskey, associate director of the Center for Educational Freedom at the Cato Institute: "The real danger is how this will be interpreted. The definition of harassment could be broadly interpreted that anybody who expressed a totally legitimate opinion about homosexual behavior could be made illegal.That's a violation of those kids who want to express opposition to LGBT opinions or behavior. People have a legitimate reason to be concerned about this -- not because they're 'haters' but because you're now trying to balance different rights."

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where this is going. Ah, just another good reason to put your kids in public schools.

Another Illustration that Gay Marriage does not Exist

Leave it to the NY Times to put this positive spin on so-called Gay Marriage.

A study to be released next month is offering a rare glimpse inside gay relationships and reveals that monogamy is not a central feature for many. Some gay men and lesbians argue that, as a result, they have stronger, longer-lasting and more honest relationships. And while that may sound counterintuitive, some experts say boundary-challenging gay relationships represent an evolution in marriage — one that might point the way for the survival of the institution.

New research at San Francisco State University reveals just how common open relationships are among gay men and lesbians in the Bay Area. The Gay Couples Study has followed 556 male couples for three years — about 50 percent of those surveyed have sex outside their relationships, with the knowledge and approval of their partners.

So, leaving aside the Christian theological arguments that there is no such thing as Gay Marriage; it would appear the thing people are calling gay marriage leaves out one important aspect of Marriage: fidelity.

Even better is this tidbit from the article: None of this is news in the gay community, but few will speak publicly about it. Of the dozen people in open relationships contacted for this column, no one would agree to use his or her full name, citing privacy concerns. They also worried that discussing the subject could undermine the legal fight for same-sex marriage.

Oh my, we sure wouldn't want to argue our position based on something inconvenient like THE TRUTH!

Catagory: Stuff you probably didn't know, Atlanta Gayest City

A GLBT magazine, The Advocate, uses a series of metrics to come up with the conclusion that Atlanta is the gayest city in America. Nope, not San Francisco.

Though their methodology is "unscientific",it's not without merit. Correspondent Mike Albo awarded points based on same-sex households per capita, statewide marriage equality, gay elected officials, gay dating and "hookup" profiles per single male population, gay bars per capita, cruising spots per capita, and gay films in Netflix favorites.

Read the article, it goes on to say: Albo said the study reflects the mainstreaming of gay people into contemporary American life, noting that Iowa City, Austin, Texas; and Asheville, N.C., have more gays per capita than the major metropolises

Episcopal Church Begins Official Work on Same Sex Blessings

At it's last trienial convention in the summer of 2009, the Episcopal Church passed a resolution to begin the development liturgical blessings for same sex unions. While this stops short of same sex marriage rites, it amounts to the same thing from a secular, legal standpoint.

The ongoing committee charged with this work has sent out letters to all diocesan bishops asking for examples of blessing liturgies they have instituted or authorized in their diocese.

While the Convention in Los Angeles pushed full steam ahead for this work, the average person sitting in the pews and putting money in the collection plates is not going to be happy to hear what is happening behind their backs.

Where will this go? No doubt many of those pewsitters will continue to head for the exits.

Churches oppose Ugandan Anti-gay bill

There has been a tremendous debate underway in Uganda to strengthen sodomy laws, ban same sex marriages, and generally to repress homosexual behavior by the enactment of harsh punishments including life in prison and death for offenses against the law.

In its December 17 Christmas message, the Uganda Joint Christian Council, a coalition of the country’s Anglican, Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, said that while its individual member churches had not yet issued formal statements on the proposed bill, all were opposed to the harsh penalties proposed for the suppression of vice.

The Churches agree that homosexual activity is biblically unacceptable, but "The “problem of homosexuality cannot be addressed by the law alone,” the churches noted, adding that Uganda’s Christian Churches were “concerned about the spiritual wellbeing of all members of the human family, including those who find themselves trapped in questionable lifestyles such as gays and lesbians.”
Coercion was not the solution, the churches concluded, appealing to “all parties to seek sustainable solutions to this problem. This would, among other things, involve teaching, mentoring, counseling and rehabilitation of all victims who are within reach,” the Uganda Joint Christian Council said.

Sodom and Gomorrah in Texas

Houston took a giant step to the liberal left with the election of an openly Lesbian mayor in its recent mayoral race.

But now, to show that everything is "bigger and better in Texas", Houston is going to take another serious step to the left with the opening of the biggest abortion clinic in the country. The developer of the clinic, Planned Parenthood, fairly gushed about the 78,000 square foot facility's new surgical wing which will be able to perform late term aborptions.

In the Bible, Sodom and Gomarrah were destroyed by God because of their unrepentant immorality. In everyday language, Sodom and Gomorrah have been used as metaphors for vice and sexual deviation. Houston, Texas has placed itself front and center as a place of notable sexual deviation and vice.

The Bible in particular has some pretty harsh things to say about those who harm the most innocent of humanity. What step will Houston take next?
